Project Overview
L'Assiette d'Antan is one of Mauritius's most distinctive dining destinations — an authentic Mauritian cuisine restaurant housed in a beautifully preserved colonial building at 10 Villa Road, Moka. Since opening in December 2022, the restaurant has charmed and enchanted its clientele with a menu rooted in the rich culinary traditions of Mauritius, served in an atmosphere that evokes the elegance and warmth of a bygone era. Webmate built the restaurant's digital showcase in 2026 to give this exceptional dining experience the online presence it deserved.
The brief for this project was clear and deliberate: build something that feels as considered and authentic as the restaurant itself. L'Assiette d'Antan is not a fast-casual dining brand — it is a destination, a curated experience, and a piece of Mauritius's cultural heritage expressed through food and atmosphere. The website needed to communicate all of that before a visitor ever made a reservation. We built the site on custom PHP rather than a CMS — a deliberate choice to deliver a lean, fast-loading, visually precise platform with no plugin overhead.
The restaurant's menu structure — with distinct lunch and dinner services, a lounge and boardroom offering, and a Sunday brunch available on the last Sunday of each month — required a clear and elegant presentation of opening hours, service types, and reservation pathways. A dedicated online table booking system was integrated at lassiettedantan.mu/booking.html, allowing guests to reserve their table directly from the site. The event booking functionality accommodates the restaurant's policy of opening on Sundays and certain evenings exclusively for private events of a minimum of 25 persons.
L'Assiette d'Antan is also the restaurant within the personal business portfolio of Webmate's CEO — making this project a particularly personal delivery. The site is managed and maintained by Webmate on an ongoing basis, ensuring that menu updates, event announcements, opening hour changes, and seasonal content are kept current and presented with the elegance the brand demands.
